One of the most famous landmarks of Thanjavur is the Brahdeeswarar Temple. Built by the greatest Chola Emperor Raja Raja Chola, it constitutes one of the finest pieces of temple architecture ever to be constructed.

The tower of the temple is an engineering marvel as the construction was made in such a way that the shadow of the cupola never falls on the ground. In keeping with the magnificence of the temple is the presiding deity, the Sivalingam, with its massive nandi at its portal.

The Nandi is 6 mts.long , 2.6 mts broad and 3.7 mts tall and is the second largest monolithic Nandi in the country.

While some feel that these hill stations are over crowded, that does not take away the charm of from Ooty and Kodai. Both these hill stations are located over 2000 meters above sea level.
In fact Ooty is known as the "QUEEN OF HILL STATIONS" with attractions like Botanical Gardens

the highest peak Mukurti, Pykara Dam and Tea Plantation.

Kodai too has its beauty like Kodai Lake, the untouched Berijam Lake,

Pillar Rocks

Coaker's Walk

The beauty of Ooty and Kodai lies in the mist that comes and covers the valley. And, all of a sudden, the mist retreats and the sight is breathtaking.
